TEHRAN — The Iranian Parliament has approved a motion requiring the Ministry of Interior to launch an online system for managing public gatherings and rallies via the National Information Network.

During an open session, MPs continued their review of the "Support for Gatherings and Rallies" motion, which aligns with Article 27 of the Constitution. Article 4 of the motion passed with 203 votes in favor in the 290-seat chamber.

Under this article, the Ministry of Interior is mandated to launch the digital platform within six months of the law’s enactment. This will be done in coordination with the State Security Council and the Administrative Court of Justice.

Following parliamentary approval, the motion’s articles must now be ratified by the Guardian Council. If cleared, the legislation will be sent to the President for final implementation.

The move follows recent peaceful protests over economic conditions, which Iranian authorities state were exploited by foreign-backed elements to incite unrest. While reaffirming the constitutional right of citizens to voice grievances through peaceful assembly, officials have emphasized that those acting against national security will face strict legal consequences.
